Manager account

A Google Ads manager account (MCC) lets one login view, manage and report on many ad accounts, with access controlled per account.

A manager account, still widely called MCC (My Client Center), holds no campaigns of its own. It links to other Google Ads accounts, so an agency, freelancer or multi-brand business can switch between them, see performance side by side and manage users in one place. Each client account stays separate, with its own billing, campaigns and data, and the client can remove the link at any time.

Where you'll see it

In Google Ads, the account selector at the top of the screen shows every account under the manager. Linked accounts and pending invitations are in the manager account's Accounts view; user access is under Admin > Access and security. Meta's equivalent is a Business portfolio in Business Settings (formerly Business Manager), and TikTok's is Business Center.

Worked exampleA freelancer with 6 client accounts

  • Without a manager account: six separate logins, one account at a time
  • With a manager account: one overview of all six, then drill into the ones that need it

The money is in what gets noticed. A client account spending $90 a day with no conversions stands out in the overview instead of waiting for its weekly turn. Three unnoticed days cost 3 × $90 = $270.

Do

  • Run client campaigns in a client-owned account linked to the manager
  • Give manager-level admin access only to people who need it on every account

Don't

  • Build client campaigns inside the agency’s own account
  • Assume manager-level shared lists apply everywhere; they apply only where attached
